Spa Sunday Must-Have: The Drain Hair Catcher

Must have for Sunday Spa Day. Bathtime. Fur clogs!
That's the whole review, honestly. But fine, I'll say more.
I've spent decades in the pet industry caring for the well-being of just about every species, from reptiles and birds to small companion animals. Now I'm a spiritual introvert with a pack of rescue dogs, one high-maintenance Maltese, and one cat. Spa Sunday is a whole production here: baths, sanitary trims, face trims (here's the scissor set I use). And all that fur has to go somewhere. Not down my drain.
My pick
Bovinde Hair Drain Catcher, 2 Pack on Amazon
It's a flat, square silicone cover that sits over the drain and catches the fur before it heads down the pipe. It's about 5.5 inches square and fits drains under 4.7 inches. When you're done, you just grab the clump and toss it. Two in a pack, so one for the tub and one for wherever else. Lots of colors.
The honest part: the suction cups are the big complaint. Lots of reviewers say they don't stick and the cover slides around, especially on textured tubs. Some say water pools on top and drains slower. And measure your drain first.
Big dogs
Big dog, big bath, big fur. A catcher matters even more with a heavy shedder, so empty it partway through the bath before it clogs up.
Real facts, no fluff
- The ASPCA recommends brushing your pet before a bath to remove dead hair and mats. That means less fur going down the drain to begin with. (ASPCA Dog Grooming Tips)
Vet note: I'm not a vet, and this isn't vet advice. If your dog's shedding suddenly ramps up or you see bald spots, check with your vet.
